Great Bulrush

Great BulrushScirpis validus

The Great Bulrush, occasionally nine feet in height, and sometimes an inch in diameter at the base, is leafless and stout.

The smooth, round stems are often seen in shallow brooks and are more noticeable than are the small terminal umbels of brownish spikelets.
