Genus SEQUOIA, Endl.Trees of great size and age, resinous, aromatic. Leaves evergreen, alternate, of two shapes. Flowers in solitary cones, minute, monoecious, axillary. Fruit a pendant woody cone; seeds 5 to 7 under each scale.
